The
Howard Davis Report (Feb 2002) reviewed Enterprise
and the Economy in Education. In response to the report,
the Government, through the Learning and Skills Council,
Regional Development Agencies and local Government
Offices have made Enterprise Education a high priority
for schools and colleges.
The Government advises all young people should gain
* An understanding of key economic concepts and how businesses
work.
* Enhanced enterprise skills including problem solving,
risk taking and money management.
* Greater knowledge of the local economy
* The ability to make informed judgements about economic
issues.These objectives closely match those of the 14-16
Work Related Framework, but are applicable
across all key stages.
To meet the Enterprise Challenge,
we assist schools and colleges by:-
* Providing advice and guidance on enterprise strategies
* Delivering a wide range of enterprise activities
* Creating contexts for developing and embedding enterprise
within the curriculum to meet the requirements of the DfES
and OFSTED
* Engaging business in programmes for students
* Promoting best practice in enterprise activities through
planning, monitoring, evaluation and dissemination.
Menu
of activities include:-
* Enterprise challenges
* Visits to companies
* Enterprise Business Days
* Mini-Enterprise
* Enterprise focused professional development placements
for teachers
* Specialised work experience
* Enterprise resource materials
